How do AI routes, the Decision node and the Classifier differ in the agent builder?
There are three ways to branch a conversation.
Routes on a Conversation node: the AI interprets what the person said and picks the best route, for example yes or no. It does not have to pick one. If the caller gives no clear answer, it reports no clear match, waits, and continues once they answer. This is guided but not rigid, like a script a salesperson adjusts to the conversation.
Decision node: this is not AI interpretation. It decides on actual data, such as a saved value, JSON, or the output of an earlier step. For example, if the number of days the caller wants to stay is greater than or equal to 3, go down one path. You only need one condition, because the value either matches or falls to No match. The Decision node works live during a phone call.
Classifier node: decides which category something falls into.
Each path can do anything a workflow can: send emails or texts, call an API, forward the call or hand off to another system.
